Artist's Comments

:aww: Here is my very first finished digital piece.

I am really happy with how Ansam turned out. The background could have used a bit more work and thought but I'm satisfied until my next painting. Ansam is a beloved character of mine, she's really quite sweet and beautiful.
Please fullview!!

Much love to ~Embers and *moodymand and various other wonderful people who helped and encouraged me...as this took like two months because of my laziness and inexperience.

Beautiful! This is a wonderful first painting! Hey, it's a great painting in any case! :) I really love her glossy face, in particular, but your work on her whole coat is lovely.

I would suggest maybe a little more yellow in the grass to make it a little more realistic and match in with the golden gleam of her coat - try putting a new layer set to 'colour' in a more yellowish green over the top, and fiddle with the opacity until it looks right. Or you could go all the way and make the grass golden... that could look spectacular. I know you want to be done with this, but just a couple of minutes more could really finish it off nicely.
For future paintings, the trick with backgrounds is to treat them as a character too - giving them the same attention as the subject really pulls a piece together.

I wasn't notified of this either... gah!

this turned out soooo beautiful, I am just staring at that coat  seriously, she looks spectacular... wonderful job... you should be proud  her face, the texture and shine on the coat, the vivid colour... and the mane/tail turned out great in the end!!

I love how she's weighted to the bottom of the picture with all that sky at the top... very pleasing to look at. Even though you used the grass brush, you've got varied colours and sizes, and the horizon line isn't straight... that sometimes makes it fake-looking. You did great with it.

I love it :D  and now I want to see more digital from you! I think you have a flair for it! I just love how you drew her... one of the nicest digitally-drawn horses I've seen here I reckon :)

Oh noes! I think it didn't notify people because it gave me this really weird error but submitted it anyway? I'm going to have to do something about it  That's sad..

:giggle: Well thank you Amanda! I'm really glad you like it :aww: The mane and tail actually didn't turn out nearly as bad as I expected so I'm pretty satisfied with them.

Now I'm all smiles ;) I appreciate it, you picked out all the strong points or something :glomp:

I am quite looking forward to doing more! Next time I'll spend more time on the background though. :blushes: one of the nicest digital drawn horses... well you're something else.

=D well thank you so much! =) the coat did turn out quite well...

Oohh I think I'll do that, I don't mind playing with it some more ;P I still feel kinda bleck about using a brush... but I did have like 7 different grass layers that I colored individually...still though I'm definitely open to fixing it. thanks more mentioning that!

Yeah... ^^; it would have. It also helps not to be impatient...that ...probably shows a great deal about the artist, their patience. Something I'm *wince* not incredible at right now, ah well. More time =) Everyone I know already thinks it's insane how much time I spend on artwork, a little more can't hurt. :giggle:
:cuddle: Thanks so much Bron :aww:
